Welcoming a brand new baby is always special, but there is something extra magical about a New Year baby. This sweet baby girl was born on New Year’s Day, making her the perfect way to start the year for her family. I had the honor of photographing her newborn session at my Pacific Grove studio, and it was such a beautiful, calm morning filled with soft light and so much love.
We started with classic newborn portraits using simple white wraps and neutral textures to keep the focus on her tiny features. She was so relaxed and sleepy, which allowed us to capture those timeless curled-up poses that parents love. The soft, light aesthetic of the studio paired perfectly with her delicate features, creating a clean and elevated look that will never go out of style.
One of my favorite parts of this session was including her older brother. He was so proud and gentle with his new baby sister, and those sibling portraits are always some of the most meaningful images from a newborn session. We also captured family photos with mom and dad, documenting this new chapter together in a natural and connected way.
To celebrate her New Year arrival, we added a fun and festive setup with gold and silver tones, giving a subtle nod to the start of 2026. It was the perfect way to personalize her session while still keeping everything cohesive and timeless.
If you are expecting and looking for a newborn photographer in Monterey, Pacific Grove, Carmel, or the surrounding areas, I recommend booking your session during your second trimester to ensure availability. Newborn sessions are typically photographed within the first 5 to 10 days after birth to capture those sleepy, curled poses.
My Pacific Grove studio is designed to be a calm, welcoming space for families, with everything provided so you can simply relax and enjoy the experience. Whether you are looking for baby-only portraits or full family images, these sessions are all about preserving this fleeting season in a way that feels natural and beautiful.
